Time of Flight sensors in 3-D Cameras allows to capture a high resolution depth video with only one camera. The sensor is sending IR signals and measures the time of flight of the reflected signal so a desired depth range can be captured exclusively.
In the future this technology can become more important. It can be used for capturing the depht with one lens 3-D cameras, for creating lenticular 3d pictures out of only one photo and a depth map and to be used as an interface between human and computer.
